Owners of holiday lodges and static caravans could be offered greater protection from ‘cowboy’ sites thanks to the introduction of a new kitemark scheme.
The campaign will award holiday parks that adhere to the Consumer Code of Practice with a kitemark. Among the standards expected of scheme members are that they treat customers fairly during the sale of a holiday lodge and pitch, and that they continue to look after the customer during their stay at that particular site.
This is the first universal indicator of its kind in the UK and will help static home buyers to determine if a park is safe or not. It is aimed to put pressure on those sites not operating within these guidelines, to try and stamp out holiday lodge owners being mistreated by park owners and operators.
The kitemark scheme will be administered by the National Caravan Council (NCC) and will also contain additional legal support clauses for static caravan and holiday lodge owners entering into disputes with their landlord. All member sites will be independently inspected on a regular basis by the NCC.
Even if your leisure home is in the highest quality park, its still important to protect your asset by taking out a static caravan insurance or holiday lodge insurance policy. For a no obligation quotation call Freephone 0800 614 849 or buy holiday lodge insurance online.
