Many would argue that with the new technological era children are no longer getting out enough and are instead spending all their time looking at a computer screen. The Go Ape centre conducted a survey of 2,000 children across the UK and found that most children will spend more time behind a screen than going on adventures this summer holidays.
Further research found that inactive children will spend 3.5 days a week sitting at a computer and that 77% of parents would prefer their children to spend more time outside.
Here are some of the fun activities that children are missing out on.
- Making a camp
- Making a daisy chain
- Flying a kite
- Climbing a tree
- Searching for insects
- Planting their own seeds
- Playing in an open space/ woodland
- Pond dipping/ paddling
- Skimming stones
- Fruit picking
Don’t let you children miss out! Why not drag them away from the screen and take them on a camping adventure this school holidays.
