Get your kids to eat healthily this school holidays by making grilled fruit kabbobs on your BBQ. Not only are they quick and easy to make, they are a sure way to make sure your family get their 5 a day.
What you’ll need:
½ cup margarine
¼ cup honey
3 fresh peaches, pitted and quartered
3 fresh plums, pitted and quartered
3 bananas cut into 4 pieces each
12 strawberries
12 skewers
Steps to take:
1. Lay a large piece of foil over the grate and heat up/ light your BBQ.
2. Melt the margarine and honey together in a small saucepan over medium heat, then reduce the heat and gently cook whilst stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes (do not let it boil).
3. Put a peach quarter, plum quarter, piece of banana and strawberry onto each skewer.
4. Next, place the skewers onto the foil covered, pre-heated grill and pour half of the honey and margarine mixture over them.
5. Grill until the fruit becomes soft and the sauce has cooked onto the skewers, this should take around 5 minutes.
6. Then flip the skewers and cover the other side with the other half of the mixture, grill for around 5 more minutes on each side.
7. Serve and enjoy your heathy snack!
