There is great news for caravan lovers…
Swift caravans will be investing millions of pounds into expanding production in their Cottingham factory. In addition, a 72,656sq ft. covered area will also be prepared for product storage and dispatch.
Managing director James Turner said that the reason for the expansion is “the market for leisure products has got some major resurgence going on at the moment and there’s stronger demand across all product groups”.
This is a turnaround from the previous recession which hit the industry and lead to a shift from manufacturers producing 32,000 caravans a year to numbers dropping to 20,000 almost overnight.
As a response to the growing interest in the market, Swift will be widening their range of caravans, motor homes and holiday homes. The expansion will also create a vast number of new jobs for people living locally.
Turner reportedly commented that “this was just the start” and that they will be looking at expanding the business even further in the future.
The building has already begun, so watch this space for when the new range hits the market.
