Christmas time can mean two things for static caravan or park home owners: firstly, you’re likely to have more precious items stored if you’ve been gift shopping and secondly, there’s a higher chance your caravan will be left empty for a few days whilst you visit friends and family during the festive period.
To help keep your caravan and its contents safe this Christmas, we’ve put together some top security tips
- Keep any item of value stored in a cupboard or other location out of sight
- If your caravan or park home is not your full-time residence, take high value items home with you at the end of the season
- Mark any electrical goods or important belongings with your name, telephone number and postcode using a UV pen
- Shut curtains or draw blinds to discourage thieves from looking inside
- Check all your window and door locks are working
- It is advisable to fit an alarm that is triggered by either a motion sensor or the doors/windows being disturbed – some of these can send an alert to your holiday park owner
- Should the worst happen and you are a victim of theft, having an up-to date insurance policy could save you money and hassle.
If you’re a residential park home owner, Coast’s park home insurance includes a 10% increase on your total contents cover during December to account for any Christmas gifts you are storing ahead of the big day.
